Game Boxart Perpetuum is a sci-fi MMORPG from a small company based in Hungary. It "launched" late last year, but has stayed under the radar of most gamers, in part because the developers have chosen to delay marketing of the game until they've added a few more
Game Boxart Rift: Planes of Telara is Trion's entry into the already rather crowded world of Fantasy MMORPGs, and quite an entry it is. Rift advertises itself by saying "We're not in Azeroth any more", however it would be hard to believe that statement if you w

GamesCom - NVidia 3D Technology

NVidia were demonstrating their 3D technology at GamesCom. The most interesting thing they had on show was NVidia 3DTV Play, which allows you to enjoy 3D gaming on your TV without having to worry about purchasing extra hardware. This is especially useful if you've paid out for one of the older 3D TVs and don't want to have to invest in a different one.

The 3DTV Play produces a crisp, clear 3D image. They were demonstrating it with Avatar: The Game, and it looked better in 3D than it did on a standard screen.

As well as demonstrating the 3DTV Play, they demonstrated 3D Vision with Mafia 2 in Panoramic 3D, with three screens. It's apparently possible to have three screens in 3D, and then one screen normal, which would be great for people playing MMOs, who want maps or levelling guides open on the fourth screen.

Some games have been disappointing in 3D - Need For speed, for example, but Mafia 2 looked good, with subtle 3D effects, rather than having parts of the UI leaping out at you.

Panoramic 3D requires a large financial investment - for starters you need three 120hz monitors, and quite possibly some extra graphics cards, but in my opinion, it's worth the investment.
