Icarus Studios, Inc., announced today the Beta release of its Mac-compatible platform and the Fallen Earth MMO. The software, compatible with Intel Macs, will allow players to connect to the same live server as PC users with game features optimized for their resident operating system.

The critically-acclaimed MMO Fallen Earth, co-developed by Icarus Studios and Fallen Earth, LLC, is the first title to support Icarus Studios’ new Mac platform. With plans to keep the post-apocalyptic momentum going, Icarus Studios is utilizing the open source software Wine (www.winehq.com) to launch the Mac-compatible version of the game.

“The Mac OS X compatibility project is something we’ve been excited to see implemented for quite a while,” said Brad Lineberger, Chief Technical Officer of Icarus Studios. “Our goal for the project is to allow Mac users to run all of our existing and future games in their native OS.”

For optimal play, Mac users will need to run OS X 10.5 Leopard or later, using an Intel-based system with dedicated graphics hardware.

The Beta version of the client is available now and interested candidates can visit FallenEarth.com to participate.
